Meikswe Myanmar (MM) has been committed to serving the vulnerable communities in Myanmar since its inception in 2004. Initially focused on providing residential care for women with HIV/AIDS in northern Shan State, MM has significantly expanded its scope and impact over the years.

Meikswe Myanmar envisions a peaceful and healthy social life for all people in Myanmar. Our mission is to improve the sustainable social lives of women, children, and vulnerable communities. We achieve this through capacity building, social networking, coordination, cooperation, and providing technical assistance, essential support, and infrastructure. By working with local organizations and stakeholders, we strive to create lasting positive change across various sectors.

Organization Timeline

2004
Meikswe Myanmar (MM) is founded to address the healthcare needs of women, children, and persons living with HIV/AIDS in northern Shan State.
2005-2016
MM expands to include educational programs, emergency support for disaster or conflict-affected communities, and capacity-building for local organizations.
2017
MM begins supporting internally displaced people (IDPs), collaborating with civil society organizations, NGOs, and international bodies such as UNHCR.
2020-2021
Despite increased insecurity, MM continues to serve diverse communities, extending its reach to the central Mandalay Region, Rakhine State, Shan State, and the Mergui islands.
2022
MM extends aid to IDPs from Kayah State displaced to Southern Shan State.
Present
MM continues to operate and grow, maintaining and enhancing services amid the challenges posed by COVID-19 and armed conflict, with a focus on community-based holistic development.
